When BD embarked on a redesign of its web presence, Very few of us understood the challenge we faced. The size of our multiple sites and total number of pages only hinted at the amount of work required to refresh ED.com after nearly eight years of inertia.
Selection of a resource to help identify and address the required steps to improvement became our first effort. We'd conducted a rigorous review of a considerable number of candidates, including face-to-face meetings, RFI submissions, and a non-binding creative submission illustrating design direction and capability- an unusual component of a customary vetting exercise. The selection of Multimedia Solutions to partner with BD was unequivocal and enthusiastic.
During the months that followed, we relied heavily on the knowledge and expertise of MSC to recognize the areas of our site requiring attention and the steps needed to improve navigation, page structure, visual balance, and many other actions that would lead to a positive user experience. The MSC team would join with its BD counterparts on a frequent basis, the resulting meetings being productive and substantive. With a wide range of views represented by the functional components of the BD team, Ed Moskowitz, David Sheldon, Nataliya Kostyuk and the others who would contribute to the project exercised great skill and patience in reconciling differing perspectives.
The Creative activities were particularly noteworthy in that both groups engaged in a true collaboration, and open discussion resulted in numerous refinements to a solid design foundation. As BD staff engages in the final push to go-live, the stakeholders who have tracked the work express enthusiasm for the results and high expectations for its contribution to our company's image.
